I saw A History of Violence, the new Viggo Mortenson movie that was directed by a sick F--k who directed the Fly.
AWESOME MOVIE. I don't like Revenge flicks in general, because they are always a secret form of conservative propaganda (See ), but this movie was different. It showed that the guy seeking revenge wasn't a good person but in fact a sick asshole. The movie is violent, but you feel good about (MOST) of it because it is against people who need to be killed.
The movie does linger on the effects of violence. For example, in most Hollywood movies the henchmen are given a quick death and are not focused on after they are killed. In this movie the henchmen are shown to have there noses hit back into their brains as well as having their jaws blown off from Viggo "Charles Bronson" Mortenson.
The movie deals with the fact that we as humans have a duality towards violence. On one hand, the film shows that violence causes more violence. On the other hand, Tom Stall ("Clint" Viggo) would have been killed if he turned away from violence. The movie is not some mindless film like that piece of shit, right-wing, Nazi propaganda film called Man on Fire.
In that film, Tony Scott showed that he was a sick sadist that would make Mel Gibson blush because he made Denzel into a cool guy when he killed those Mexican Gangsters. The only problem, SPOILERS The kid didn't die. So Denzel was really a Abu Grab-ass loving Emperor Cheney Stormtrooper who just wanted to kill some spics. His self-rightness got on my nerves. God I hated that movie SPOILERS.
The only reason I'm seeing Domino after Tony "Joey Travolta to Ridley's John" Scott's last POS is because of the guy whose name is on the title of this blog.
But anyways, GO SEE HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. It WILL affect you in ways that all of the shitty movies this summer could have only dreamed about.
